Open Scripture                                                                         Isaiah 56:1, 6-8

The Word of the Lord

Thanks be to God.

Call to Worship         Isaiah 56:1, 6-8; Psalm 67

Thus says the Lord: Maintain justice, and do what is right.

For soon my salvation will come, and my deliverance be revealed.

And the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord…to love the name of the Lord, to be his servants.

These I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer.

Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar.

For my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.

May God be gracious to us and bless us, and make his face to shine upon us.

That your way may be known upon earth, your saving power among all nations.

Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you.

Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity.

God will gather the outcasts of Israel, and I will gather others to them besides those already gathered.

Let all the peoples praise you! Let all the peoples praise you!

Hymn of Welcome - Let All Things Now Living

Psalm 67

Opening Prayer (Unison)

Holy God, you have said it plainly: your house is a house of prayer for all. Not for some. Not for the ones who got here first. Not for the ones who look right, speak right, believe right. All. You welcome the foreigner. You bless the eunuch. You answer the Canaanite woman. You feed the crowd with crumbs that become a feast. So gather us today: the outcasts, the insiders, the confused, the certain, the broken, the whole. Make us joyful in your house. And send us out to be a house of prayer for all peoples. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession (unison)

Merciful God, we confess the things that come out of our hearts and defile us. We have spoken words that wound. We have thoughts that exclude. We have made judgments about who belongs and who does not. We have been like the disciples, asking you to send the Canaanite woman away. We have been like the Pharisees, trusting in our own cleanliness while our hearts hold malice, pride, and fear. Forgive us. Cleanse us. Teach us that what makes us unclean is not where we come from or what we eat or how we worship, but the hardness of our hearts toward those you love. Give us the humility to receive correction. Give us the courage to welcome the ones you welcome. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon

Gloria Patri

Passing of the Peace

The peace of Christ be with you.

And also with you.

Prayer for Illumination (unison)

God of the foreigner and the outcast, open our ears to your Word today. In Isaiah, show us the house you are building - a house with doors flung wide, a house where the eunuch and the stranger find a name better than sons and daughters. In the Gospel, show us the woman whose faith would not be dismissed, whose persistence broke open a bigger blessing than the disciples could see. And in both, show us your Son, who keeps proving that mercy is wider than we imagined. Speak, Lord, for your servants are listening. Amen.

Doxology

Prayer of Dedication (unison)

Gracious God, receive these gifts: our money, our time, our very lives. Accept them as you accept the offering of the outsider, the stranger, the one we would have turned away. Use them to build your house of prayer for all peoples. Send them to the margins. Send them to the borders. Send them to the ones who need to know that your face shines upon them too. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Prayers of the People and the Lord’s Prayer   (Responsive)
