The Lord hears us when we cry out.

The Lord showers us with blessings.
Praise the Lord!
Let us lift up the name of the Lord for all to hear!
Praise the Lord!
Let us sing of God's endless grace and compassion!
Let us worship God!

Hymn of Welcome #228

O Thou, My, Soul, Return in Peace (v 1-4)

Psalm 116:1-2, 12-19

I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my supplications.
Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
What shall I return to the Lord for all his bounty to me?
I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord.
I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful ones.
O Lord, I am your servant; I am your servant, the child of your serving girl.
You have loosed my bonds. I will offer to you a thanksgiving sacrifice and call on the name of the Lord.
I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people,
in the courts of the house of the Lord, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the Lord!

Opening Prayer

Call to Confession

Prayer of Confession (unison) - Based on Romans 5

Loving God, we come with heavy hearts. We have not lived as you have called us to live. We give up too easily. We ignore our neighbor's cries for help and are silent in the face of injustice. We lose hope. We fail to see your blessings among us and are blind to the glimpses of the kingdom all around us. We close our doors to the stranger and withhold from others the grace you have given us so freely. We are weak. Have mercy upon us. Shower us with your grace, that we might be enlivened for service and for love. Lord, hear our prayer... Amen.

Assurance of Pardon

Passing of the Peace of Christ

Prayer for Illumination  (unison)

God of joy and wonder, breathe your Spirit upon us. Open our hearts and ears to hear these ancient words and be surprised. Open our minds and our eyes to see our place in your living Word today and every day. Amen.

Affirmation of Faith

Heidelberg Catechism, Question 21
Q: What is true faith?
A: True faith is not only a sure knowledge by which I hold as true all that God has revealed to us in Scripture; it is also a wholehearted trust, which the Holy Spirit creates in me by the gospel, that God has freely granted, not only to others but to me also, forgiveness of sins, eternal righteousness, and salvation. These are gifts of sheer grace, granted solely by Christ's merit. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Call for the Offering

Doxology #815

Prayer of Dedication (unison)

Generous God, how can we thank you for all that you have given us? We give back but a small portion in hopes that it may bless the world as you have blessed us. Use these gifts to feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, heal the sick, and proclaim your kingdom near. In the name of Jesus, our brother and our Lord. Amen.
